Who’s Who in local football

George Evinson (Mexborough)

This player joined the Mexborough team are late last season, and immediately made good, so that the management had no hesitation in re-signing him. Their confidence has very largely been justified, for he has played some excellent games this year.

He is not entirely consistent, and fell off a little last October. On being reintroduced two or three weeks ago, he displayed excellent form and continues to show promise. He is 22 and of useful build. He was born in Sheffield, and played for a time with the Woodgrove club in the Attercliffe Alliance. He also played a good deal of army football while serving with the York and Lancaster Regiment, and gained some prominence while still at school.

He is speedy and courageous, has both power and accuracy, and the gift of shooting on the run. With the right partner, he can be a big scoring force.
