At Mexborough Parish Church on Saturday, the wedding took place of Miss Dorothy Shaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Shaw, of 25, Herbert Street, Mexborough, and Mr. Ernest Border, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Border, of 4, Cross Gate, Mexborough. The Rev. G. Bernard officiated.

The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a white satin beaute gown embroidered with lovers’ knots, with veil held in place by orange blossom. She carried carnations and roses, and was attended by Misses May Hathaway, Vera Shaw and Elaine Harrison. Miss Hathaway was dressed in figured blue silk, and the two younger maids in mauve taffeta with headdresses of silver leaves. They carried violets and chrysanthemums.

The bridegroom’s gifts to the bridesmaids were R.A.F. brooches. The best man was Mr. Harry Border. and the groomsman Mr. George Carr. The bride’s mother attended in a black costume with black and white hat, and the bridegroom’s mother wore a brown coat and hat. A reception was held after the ceremony by the bride’s parents at the Mexborough Parish Church Scouts’ headquarters. The bridegroom, a former Mexborough Church Scout, is serving in the R.A.F., and his former Scouting colleagues provided a guard of honour outside the church.
