More than 20 years ago Mr. Worth commenced his football career as a playing member of the old Mexborough Victoria club in the now defunct South Yorkshire League competition. His position was left back, and for five years he captained the team. He recalls many stirring times on the ground near the water tower, now being turned into allotments. As secretary to the Montagu Hospital Sports Committee he has had charge of the Montagu Cup and other competitions run by that body for three seasons, and has got through much notable work.

He was appointed treasurer of the Mexborough Football Association last year, but on the retirement of Mr. Cutts he took over the post of secretary. His two sons are keen players; one plays with Queen’s Foundry, and the other with Goldthorpe
