The Crosley – Trinder Bout

Trinder’s Guarantee

On Saturday, in the Plant Hotel grounds, Mr Frank Lane has arranged a heavy programme.

A 15 three minute round contest has been arranged between Morris Trinder (picture) of Portsmouth and Harry Crosley of Mexborough, and there is a £25 guarantee of Trinder’s appearance.

There is also a 10 stone competition, for which Mr Lane is offering a cup. Harold Sharkey, Stainforth and Young Birkett of Mexborough are to meet over six rounds and Billy Holloway of Doncaster meets Ted Jones of Wombwell over 10 rounds. The first bout is at 5 p.m.

Trinder will arrive in Mexborough on Friday evening, and will spend the night at the Plant Hotel.

Mr Harry Jennings, the Board of Control referee, is to handle the fight. This will be Mr Jennings’s first appearance in charge of a bout at Mexborough.
