Ted Bowen For Northants.

Ted Bowen, Northampton’s centre-forward, formerly of Wath and Mexboro’, has promised to assist Northants. C.C.C. during the coming season. He is a fast bowler of outstanding merit. Last season several well-known cricket clubs sought his services but he decided to rest an old injury to the leg, sustained on the football field.

His father, Ted Bowen, was prominent in Featherstone cricket circles for a good number of years.

Bowen’s career as a footballer has been watched closely by local enthusiasts. His first club was Goldthorpe United, and later he assisted Mexboro’ and Wath Athletic in the Midland League.

From the latter club be was transferred to the Arsenal, and with that club, scored 58 goals. Towards the end of last season Bowen was transferred to Northampton, the fee being £750.

With that club he has already scored 38 goals and been a big help in their promotion race. Bowen is a ‘likeable Chap” and has a host of friends in this district.

He is a popular member of the Darfield British Legion Club. Bowen is 26 years of age, turns the scale at 12 stone, and 5ft 10ins in height.
