Private William Stocks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stocks of 2, Wood Street, Mexboro’, was killed in action in France on July 27.

He was 22 years of age, single, and before enlistment was employed at Messrs. Barron’s Glass Works.

He enlisted in .September, 1917, and. had been in France six months. A letter received by his parents from his Captain states that he was killed during some severe fighting on the French front, and that ho lived and died a good soldier.

Another brother, Pte. John Albert Stocks (West Yorks. Regt.), is in training at Hartlepool.

A brother of Mrs. Stocks, Corporal Bert Fearn (Manchester Regt.), formerly of Mexborough, died whilst a prisoner in Germany.
