Railway Trespass at Mexborough

A Mother’s Plea

Harold Winstanley, a pit-hand of was summoned for trespassing on the railway at Mexborough on July 18th.

P.c. Whittaker proved the case. The lad gave the wrong name and address, and there was some difficulty in tracing him.

Edward Wilmot, the foreman, corroborated. He found him trespassing and when caught he gave a wrong address.

Defendant’s mother pleaded for a light penalty. ” I have reared 18 , and he is the first to be had up,” she said.

Fined 2/6 and costs.
