Ordained Curate

Mr. Roy Booth, son of Mr. W. Booth, of 141, Wath Road, Mexborough, was last Thursday ordained pastor, of Blakenall Congregational Church.

The ordination ceremony was performed by the Rev. Moderator, J. Phillips, B.A., B.Litt, assisted by the Rev. Principal T. S. Taylor, the Rev. L Mares (County Union secretary), the Rev. W. Simpson, of Enderby (formerly of Mexborough), and the Rev. J. Englefield, of Walsall.

Mr. Booth, who is 29, is a native of Mexborough. He was educated at Adwick Road School. He was greatly encouraged by the Rev. W. Simpson, a former minister at Mexborough Congregational Church, and by the Rev. D. Rowland. He studied in the evenings and in 1937 was admitted to Paton College, Notts., where he stayed for four years.

Mr. Booth has been connected with Mexborough Congregational Church all his life. He is the first man to enter the ministry from that church.
