Midland League.

Wombwell were more incisive at Denaby, the home team lacking method, and deservedly won 2 – 1

E Murdin scored for Wombwell early on, and just before half-time Skeels put in a curling shot which was going into the corner of an empty goal, when the a defender pulled the ball out. It appeared as though the ball had passed over the line, but the referee consulted a linesman gave a penalty. Mounteney shot straight at Ward, who fisted away.

Denaby quickly equalised in the second half through Owen, but L Murdin scored a second for Wombwell. Auckland, Wombwell gave the best display.

Mexborough Upset

Mexborough were well beaten 4 – 1, by Doncaster Rovers at Bellevue in a game in which, after a bright opening, they failed to reproduce their form of a week ago. An early injury to Fleetwood, however, upset their attack. Bungay, while a persevering leader, received little support.

On the other hand the Rovers forward struck hard and often. Pattison was a bustling leader, but Beresford was the pick of the line with Rorrison and Yeardly sharing the four goals between them.

Davis scored for Mexborough, for whom Greig and Annables defended well.
