This Old Mexborough picture sent in by Miss H. Prince, of 128, Sandymount Road, Wath, dates probably just before the first World War, and shows a group of Mexborough tradesmen on a day trip.

Where the photograph was taken is not known, but people Identified are as follows: (Front row), second from left, Mr Lew, late landlord of the Montagu Arms, Mexborough; fourth from left, Mr Arthur Barron, of Barron’s Glassworks, Mexborough; third from right, Mr G. Jones, late landlord of the Albion Hotel, Mexborough; (middle row), second from left, Mr S. Silverwood, fourth from left, Mr Rawson, butcher, Roman Terrace, second from right, Mr Fred Pepper, chemist, Mexborough, third from right, Mr Horace Jones, son of Mr George Jones and brother of Mr L. Miss Prince’s mother, who was cook at the Montagu Arms for many years, bought the picture at a sale of the late Mr Peters’ property over 20 years ago. Mr Peters was landlord of the Commercial Hotel, Mexborough.
