Denaby Down at Leeds.

Leeds City Reserves experienced little difficulty in defeating Denaby United at Elland Road, and indeed, on tile run of the game deserved to succeed by an even more substantial margin than 3—1.

Candidly, Denaby were outplayed, and with the exception of a few occasional bursts from one of which Lang cleverly registered their only point, (following good work L. Walden), they were never dangerous.

Denaby forwards received little assistance from their backs, who were constantly engaged in defensive work.

Rovers Win at Mexborough.

Thanks to large following their supporters, Doncasfer Rovers gave gave some compensation to Mexborough for taking the brace of points, by virtue of attracting a £50 “gate.”

The game was stoutly contested, but on the whole the Rovers were the nippier side, and just about deserved win.

Yet Mexborough had only themselves to thank that they did not least draw, for after Harrison had missed a penalty for them, Murray gave one away, and Tomkinson put the visitors in front. Previous to these all-important occurences, Connelly had scored for Mexborough and Dyal for the Rovers, who got the only goal of the second half through Woodruff and “ran out winners by three to one. Dyal, the old Denaby player, was quite the star of the Rovers’ attack, and Hargreaves found him too big a handful to hold. Another ex Denaby man in the person Gregory was the giant of the Rovers’ defence, while Morrison played a good game for them at centre half.
