Mexborough Defeat Leeds.

Mexborough Town 2 Leeds City Reserves 0

Mexborough Town, playing with unusual dash and lire, were full value for their 2—0 victory over City Reserve, who, however, must be considered unfortunate in losing the services of one of their players early in the first half.

Both goals were scored by Tomlinson, one in the first minute of the game and the other just the interval.

The Town forwards for three parts of the game showed very good combination, and were always dangerous m front goal. The half-backs were rare spoilers, but the backs have yet touch their proper form, their uncertainty being marked when the depleted attack came strongly into the picture towards the end of the game.

On the whole it was a good game, worthy better attendance than patronised it. The most prominent player on the field was Kelley, the Leeds centre-half, who, like his brother, now associated with Grimsby, was always a “good ’un when with Denaby United.

Tomlinson, save for a tendency selfishness shooting, was the pick of the home forwards. Connelly, for once in a way, not distributing play as well as usual.

Denaby Down Again.

Hull City Reserves, who have had a very disappointing season, beat Denaby by 5 – 2 at Hull, although Denaby gave a much improved display. Thompson, the visiting goalkeeper, can be congratulated on keeping out a number of really dangerous shots.

Hanwell worked desperately hard at back, and McGuire in the half-back line was untiring in his efforts keep his forwards on the run. Lusher was the most enterprising forward, the individual effort that resulted in his score was really brilliant. Lang and Peters also figured in the picture.

On the home side Best was ubiquitous, and Houghton showed signs recovering his form.
