Denaby United did not fulfil expectations at Millmoor, where they met Rotherham County Reserve. They played well at the start, and’ in the first half almost surpassed their opponents.

Just before the interval County took the lead, through Dobson, and after the change over they had matters very much to their liking. McKenzie utilised a penalty, and Dobson, with a fine header, increased the total to three . Denaby also had a chance from a penalty, but Sutcliffe cleared.

They also came very near finding the net on other occasions.

Mexborough Town 2  Gainsborough Trinity 2

The score of 2-2 was a fair reflex of the game between Mexborough and Gainsborough Trinity at Hampden Road.

The visitors put up an exceedingly strong fight, and in the first half had much the better of the play. In the second half Mexborough asserted themselves, and the Gainsborough goal had some narrow escapes. Both Scott and Carlin were brilliant at times, both sets of forwards working very hard.

Copley opened the score after about twenty minutes as a result of a defection on the part of Machin, and Charlie Taylor equalised for Mexborough shortly afterwards. Ten minutes had gone by in the second half when Copley again gave the visitors the lead with a header. Ensor secured a point for the home side by scoring an excellent goal a quarter of an hour from time. Weakley, the home centre-forward, once had the ball in the net, but the point was negatived for offside.
