Mexborough Old Boys – All Conquering

Mexborough Old Boys, one of the best results of the attempt to organise football for lads of promise during the period after they leave school and before they are sufficiently developed to take their places in adult teams, are the champions of the district in “intermediate” football, as it is called.

The team above hold the championships of the Mexboro’ Intermediate League (1926-7), Rotherham Intermediate League (1927-8), and Wombwell Intermediate League (1927-8) competitions.

At the back are, extreme right. Mr. C. Bisby, who has devoted himself to the management of the teams; and extreme left, Mr. Norton, the trainer.

The lads are A. Mellor, Annable, O’Brien, Lanceley, Merrin (back); J. Mellor, Oliver, Moralee, Downing, Smeaton, Beverley (front).
