Mexborough feats at York

J Snipe

17 titles were at stake in the annual athletic meeting of the north-eastern area of the London and north-eastern Railway at York on Saturday only six were retained.

J Snipe, a member of the Mexborough Local “B” tug-of-war team, who created a new Yorkshire county championship record by putting the shot 36ft 1in last year, again won the competition.

One of the best performances was put up my Mexborough Local “B” in the tug-of-war, which they won in straight pulls, not one of which lasted more than 30 seconds.
