Mexborough Cricket Club.
Annual Dinner
Over 60 members of the above club sat down to the annual dinner, held at the Commercial Hotel, Mexborough. last night.
At the after meeting the chair was occupied by Mr, J. E. H. Drabble (president), who submitted the loyal toasts. Mr. W. Hague, of Swinton, proposed the toast of the evening. ” Success to the Mexborough Cricket Club,” saying, although was president of tho Swinton Crickct Club, he wished the Mexborough club every good wish. Swinton and Mexborough were keen rivals, but close friends, and he was always pleased to see the best team win. The continued prosperity the Mexborough Cricket Club he attributed the happy feeling existing between players and officials.
The President, responding, said found it a great pleasure to work with such a loyal committee. to whose efforts the success of the club was largely due.
Councillor Goulding submitted the Town and Trade of Mexborough,”
Councillor Sopps responding, both remarking that though present times were rather bad, in Mexborough least they were better off than many other towns.
The health of Captain F. J. O. Montagu was enthusiastically drunk with musical honours on the proposition of Mr. W. Nicholson, who referred the great help Mr. Montagu had given the club, expressing the hope that the Lord of the Manor would even more materially assist them, so that they could carry out necessary improvements to the cricket ground.
