Mexborough Church Members at Whitsuntide 1928.

This is one of two photographs which have been kindly loaned to us by Mr. H. G. Garbutt, a former Mexborough resident.

It was taken at the Whitsuntide gathering of Mexborough Church members in 1928.

Mr. Garbutt, who now lives at King Street, Blackpool, was a miner at Manvers Main Colliery until he moved twenty one’ years ago. His daughter, Mrs. Lillian Butterfield (nee Garbutt), wife of Mr. Butterfield, Swinton undertaker, appears in the photograph.

This photograph, was taken near the Montagu Hotel, where the market stalls now stand. Mr. Garbutt still receive”‘ the “South Yorkshire Times” each week from our head office at Mexborough.
