Mexborough Choirboy for Lincoln Cathedral

Master Arthur Baines (aged nine), son of Mrs Baines, headmistress of the old Denaby Church School, and of the late Mr Gordon Baines, has been admitted to the choir and College of Lincoln Cathedral.

The boy has a voice of remarkable purity and sweetness, and has been prepared for the voice test which he passed at Lincoln last Friday by his aunt Mrs A Brown

His grandfather, the late Mr George Brammer, was a chorister at York Minster, and several members of his mother’s family are prominent in local musical circles.

Mr Baines is a member of the Mexborough church choir.

He takes up his duties at Lincoln next week
