Midland League

Denaby jumped to 6th place by means of a 4 – 1 home victory over Rotherham United Reserves, although their shooting was not so accurate as usual. This

Rotherham’s goal was netted by knock, while Denaby scored through Mountney from a free kick, Walker, Adams and Siddall.

Scarborough scored a well deserved six – two victory at Mexborough. The home team were outplayed, and though they fought back to score twice in the closing stages the visitors always looked easy winners.

Scarborough strong and speedy attack received excellent support in The Mexborough defence continually in action. They scored through Swann, Clayson (two) and Wraith, Liversidge (penalty) and Ward replying. The home forwards were disjointed and ineffective. Liversidge was the better back and Capstick did well in goal.

Frickley Fortunate

Frickley gained a 2 – 1 victory at Wombwell but were fortunate. Frickley opened the scoring just before half-time, through Sturgess, but a minute later Hawkins equalised.

In the second half Wombwell gave Turner a busy time in the Frickley goal, and the visitors were fortunate when a misunderstanding between Jones (L.) and Williams, the Wombwell backs, allowed Patterson to score.
