Hull Halve Points at Mexborough.

Mexborough  2   Hull City Reserve  2

Another capital game was seen on the Mexborough ground, where Hull City Reserve were the visitors.

Mexborough got both their goals through penalty kicks, converted by Crump, who besides rendering his side this double barrelled service, was a tower strength in the Town defence and quite the best back on field.

For once in a way Connelly could not get goal, but the home forwards —of whom Watney was the best—were always dashing and strong in front, though Gladwin and Frost missed easy chances, Hendry proved a great goalkeeper.

On the whole run of the play Mexborough were really value for a victory. In the Hull ranks Houghton. Hendry, Neve, and T. Smith were always conspicuous. The latter and King got their goals.

Leicester Fosse Reserve  0  Denaby United  2

Denabv United did well to appropriate both points at Leicester.

Fosse Reserves owed their defeat primarily to bad shooting, while Mearns, who was making his debut, scarcely upheld his reputation, being considerably hampered a damaged thumb. Both sides were well served behind, though Fosse held a slight advantage in the half-back line.

Though Thompson had not so many shots to deal with as Mearns he had contend with several dangerous rushes. Bisby and Dyal were always prominent in the Denaby attack, and deserved their goals. Bentield failed with a penalty-kick which the referee awarded to the Fosse in the first half.
