Mansfield Town Defeat Mexboro’ in a Poor Game.

Mansfield Town beat Mexborough by 1–O at Mansfield, yesterday, before a small attendance, in cold, miserable weather, but the play was of a scrambling nature throughout, and a draw would have been a more fitting result. Certainly neither team deserved two points.

The home side, especially, played much below their usual form. The forward work was very feeble, many passes going astray, and neither goalkeeper was seriously tested. Midway through the first half W. Taylor had to leave the field, injured, and he returned a few minutes later to see Foster score the only goal of the match.

Walker, Saxton, and W. Taylor were prominent for the visitors, and Frith for Mansfield.
