Conisbro’ 4 Gleadless 1

Played at Conisbro”, before a fair attendance. Conisbro’ won the toss and elected to play with the wind in their favour They had the best of matters in tlie first few minutes, but the Gleadless defence was very good. After 50 minutes’ play Sheldon scored for Conisbro’, thus drawing first blood. At half-time ‘ Conisbro’ were leading by one goal to nothing.

On resuming Conisbro’ were soon in the visitors’ quarters, and Sheldon scored again. Two more goals were added  by Bennett and Whittaker.

Result: — Conisbro’ 4 Goals. Gleadless 1 goal.

Denaby United 10  Treeton 0

Played at Denaby. on Saturday, before a good gate. Denaby were evidently in good form, for kicking against the wind, they were leading at half-time by 3 goals to none.

The second half was all in their j favour, and the result was: — Denaby 10 goals. Treeton 0 goal.

Swinton Town 1. Rotherham Casuals 1

On the Swinton ground, before a poor attendance. The borne team won the toss, and kicked downhill, with a strong breeze ai their backs. They secured two successive corners, but these were ineffectual. Birks ran down towards the goal, but shot wide. Ardron soon after stopped a dangerous rush near the posts. Swinton was conceded a penalty, from which Ardron scored. The Casuals tried to equalise, and some good cross play occurred. Birks had an opening, but shot w ide. The home team was awarded another penalty, but Parkin saved splendidly. At hall-time the score was: — Swinton Town, one; Rotherham Casuals, nil.

On change of ends, the home team were kept on the defensive, and George Merry-weather put in a long dropping shot, from which a score resulted, thus equalising. Mid-field play chiefly followed, and no alteration was made in the score.

Result: — Swinton Town 1 goal. Rotherham Casuals 1 goal

Wath 2 Worksop 2

At Wath. The home team won the toss, and had the advantage of the breeze. Wath were first in attack and from a pretty centre by Bridgwater scored amidst cheers.

The homesters renewed  the pressure but Ashford cleared. Furniss equalised with a beauty shortly afterwards. Furniss again found the net after passing the home backs. Worksop had the best of the exchanges until half-time.

Resuming, Wath forced a fruitless corner. Wath and an easy opening, but Hall was stripped. Smith equalised with a lightning shot and a good game resulted:

Mexborough 4 Royston United 1

At Mexborough. Before a moderate company.

Reynolds, the old Aston Villa international was included in the Royston 11. Mexborough kicking downhill with the wind. After 10 minutes Bennett scored, and a few minutes later Helliwell against God. Mexborough scored from a corner. Interval: Mexborough three goals; Royston 0 goal.

The game ruled more even in the second half. PetThise scored for Royston after half an hour and a minute later Hollin and one for the homesters.

Sheffield Wednesday Reserve 2  Wombwell Town  0

At Owlerton in fine weather. Wombwell won the toss, when the kicking off from the Penistone Road N, with the sun shining in their eyes.

The Wednesday left wing broke away and put on, with only the goalkeeper to beat, scored an easy goal for Wednesday after 20 minutes play.
