Lincoln ‘Poach’ Two from Mexboro

Lincoln United 2, Mexborough 0

Despite a marked improvement on recent performances. Mexborough Town went down to another defeat on Saturday—this time at the hands of Lincoln United.

Following their exciting Hampden Road draw of a few weeks ago these two put on another game to remember and it was a pity that anyone had to lose.

Mexborough did not show the expected side effects of the great number of matches that they have played during the past month and came through to play an inspired part against a deadly efficient Lincoln side.

It would be easy to say that the chances that Town did miss could have changed the match but every team misses chances and it would be difficult to criticise them on this performance. Everyone seemed willing to run for everyone else and the dual spearhead of Brian Parker and Roger Woad playing inside left, provided a headache for the Lincoln defence.

As it was, Town fell to two goals from the Lincoln centre-forward but, never-the-less, can feel proud of their .performance.
