While on holiday with her parents at Blackpool recently, 13-years-old June Edwards, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. T. Edwards of 12 Victoria Street, Roman Terrace, Mexborough, won a certificate of honour in a national dancing competition in which there were 47 competitors. June danced a tap-dance, “The Irish Jig,” wearing traditional costume.
She has been dancing for 18 months and the certificate was her first competition success.
A year ago she gained the Grade 1 Certificate of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing, for operatic dancing, with 94½ marks out of a possible 100.
