Have You Seen A Brooch Like This?

It came into the possession of Mrs L Bisby, of 58, Church Street, Mexborough, after a relative had found it at a jumble sale at Thorne.

Mrs Bisby, who has been connected with Mexborough Parish Church for many years, cleaned it up and believes it is very old.

She cannot recall ever seen one before, and enquiries among her friends have brought similar results.

Mrs Bisby’s reason for thinking it must be more than 50 years old lies mainly in the fact that the tree, seen at the left of the picture, was cut down between 50 and 60 years ago
