Hampton Sports  1  Mexborough Town 4

Mexborough visited bottom-of-the-League Hampton Sports on Saturday and won the match in a short period of the second half in which four goals were scored, three from the boot of Pat Cullen.

With his first hat-trick for the club. Pat notched his sixth goal in three games, all away from home, and became joint leading scorer with Brian Parker on the 11 mark.

Up to half-time Town were given plenty to do by a strong home side, and Mal Brunt was forced into some fine saves as Hampton attacked. Not until Ron Warrington came on as substitute in the second-half did Town click. He made openings for Cullen to net the first—a volley into the corner of the net as he fell back-and Glossop to add a second.

Hampton had equalised with an excellent inter-passing move to crack open the Town defence, but with Bower and Brunt gaining control Town netted twice more to seal the match.
