Midland League
Denaby United 1 Gainsborough 1
Had Denaby seized the chances which came their way in the first half against Gainsborough they would have won very easily, instead of having to content with a 1 —1 draw.
During that period their goalkeeper only was in action three times. Not until the last minute of the first half was there any score and then Black headed through a good centre from Wraith. The equaliser came from a penalty, Taylor handling the ball in falling, when the goal was in no danger. Vallance scored.
Fell, at centre half-back for Gainsborough, played a great game.
Grimsby Town Reserves 4 Mexborough Athletic 1
Grimsbv Reserves’ 4—1 victory over Mexborough was not such an easy affair as the score might suggest. Mexborough put up quite a game fight, but their weakness lay in their shooting, which was far from accurate.
The goalscorers were: For Grimsby. Chalmers (2), Holmes, and Gardner; for Mexborough, Annables.
