Mr A.W.Youngs Leaving Mexborough

Mr A.W.Youngs, Secretary Superintendent of Mexborough Montagu hospital, as been appointed to the newly created post of Chief Administrative Officer at the County Infirmary, Carmarthen (South Wales), and will take up his new duties in September. Carmarthen Infirmary is a voluntary hospital in process of development by the Welsh Board of Health, and will ultimately have over 400 beds.

Mr. Youngs was born in Norfolk, and has had 7 years’ hospital experience. He served at Kings Lynn, Manchester and Kirby Moorside hospitals before coming to Mexborough, and since he came four years ago he has considerably assisted in the Montagu Hospital’s development.             During his stay a new appointments scheme for the out-patient dept. has been introduced, and a rehabilitation centre has been opened. A new pharmaceutical dept has been constructed, and plans for the improvement of the casualty dept. and development at the pathological laboratory service, have been made.

A founder member and first secretary of Sheffield Branch of the Institute of Hospital Administrators. Mr. Youngs is also a member of the North Eastern Council of the Institute. He is a fellow of the Institute, of Secretaries, and a member of the Society of Friends.

Included in many local appointments which he holds is that of H.M. Prison visitor to Wakefield Prison.

Mr. Youngs has also been keenly interested in Mexborough Rotary Club, of which he is secretary.
