Mexborough Defeat Doncaster Rovers

Doncaster Rovers 0  Mexborough 1

The Doncaster Rovers did not quite fulfil the promise they gave in the opening stages of their match against Mexborough on the Intake.

It was too obvious that they expended their strength at the start, and were unable to stay the course. The team is capable of much better performances, but the front rank was lamentably deficient in many respects, oven allowing for the ill-luck which dogged them.

Lindlay was well supported by Lowe, and with the halves in stronger force Mexborough would have cut but a poor figure. Bramall fell lame early in the game, and so placed the left wing at a great disadvantage. Robinson possesses speed, and with judgment ought to make valuable centre-forward. Murphy and Charles rendered good service on the right.

The visitors showed strong defence, and Tayles was a  tower of strength in goal, but their great feature was the halves, who never failed.
