“Cricketers’ Bed” at the Hospital

Mexborough Charity Committee Hand Over £500

Tributes to the successful effort of Mexborough’s Charity Cricket Committee in raising for the Montagu Hospital by a cricket match in which stars of international and county repute took part, were paid at a complimentary gathering at the Park Hotel, Mexborough, on Tuesday.

Mr. W. P. Turner, President of the Montagu Hospital, presided, and received from Mr. Percy Beaumont, a member of the Charity Committee, a cheque for £500.

Others present included Mr. A. R. Martin (Chairman of the Hospital Board of Management), Mr. R. Dayson (Treasurer of the Hospital), Mr. George Price, a former Mexborough cricketer, now Captain of the Collegiate Club at Sheffield. who captained one of the teams in the cricket match, Admiral Sir Thomas Spence Lyne, Mr. S. C. Ward, J.P., Mr. J. J. P. Mackenzie. Mr. C. E. Bayes (Chairman, Athletic Club), Mr. H. I. Turner. Mr. F. Heath (Sheffield), and members of the Committee.
