Councillor – G. Goodacre

Mr. G. Goodacre was bornin Elstree, and owing to his father being an engineer on public works received his education at various places.

At 14 he started work as a grocer’s assistance at Boston, Lincs., but shortly afterwards was apprenticed as an engineer. This did not suit him so he went down a mine in South Wales. A year later he entered the cinema trade and has risen from assistant operator to proprietor.

During 24 years in the business he has been at Rotherham for seven years and for the last four years as proprietor of the Royal, Mexborough.

He is determined to be entirely independent in politics while a member of the Council.
