Christmas Again !
Probably hardest hit by influenza in the Mexborough area is the G.P.O. Out of a staff of 17 regular workers nine are away, and the breach has had to be filled by the volunteers who help with the Christmas post. With one of their regular van-drivers missing, the post in the outlying district of Adwick has to be delivered by bicycle, instead of the usual van which is needed for Mexborough.
As well as the regular deliverers, one or two of the staff who prepare the letters for the postmen are away as well, and their positions are also being filled by volunteers.
