Mexboro’s Well-Merited Point

Mexboro’ finished the season quite satisfactorily by taking a point from Chesterfield at Saltergate on Saturday as the result of a 3-3 draw.

This is the third point Mexboro’ have gained at the expense of Chesterfield this season as they won the match at Mexboro’.

Mexboro’ deserved their point though they were in arrears at the interval and only drew level in the closing stages of the game. Chesterfield took the opportunity to try a number of fresh players but the new men in no instance weakened the team. ORR the former Rotherham United player, scored all the home side’s goals and proved himself a thrustful leader, while FLEETWOOD scored for Mexboro’ in the first half and JONES and COLEMAN got goals after the interval.

Chesterfield were inclined to hold the ball too close which was in contrast with the open methods adopted with success by Mexboro’. The forwards were again in good form with Fleetwood and Bolan the most effective of the line. Best did many good things and was given plenty to do by the Chesterfield forwards.
