Big Mexborough Bout
Meeting of Calladine and Farmer Tomorrow

Frank Lane tomorrow stage the biggest bout he has yet put on in the Plant Hotel grounds Mexborough.

Billy Farmer (Dalton- right) and Percy Calladine (Mexborough – left) are by repute the two best middleweights in the North East, and long, rather wearisome preliminaries have been necessary to tomorrow’s meeting which will be accepted and decide the middleweight championship of the North of England.

The two have met on only one other occasion, about 18 months ago, and a draw was declared.

Calladine is again taking the ring after a rest which has done him a lot of good after a period of rather heavy work. Recently he has been sparring with Harry Crossley.

The principles are due in the ring at 5.40 on Saturday. They will weigh in publicly at the Plant Hotel under a £5 forfeit, at noon on Saturday. The weight is 11 stones six

This bout is scheduled for the full championship course, 20  three minute rounds and is the first of its kind in Mexborough – at least for many years
