Boston Town 6, Mexborough Town 4
Mexboro’ were unlucky to lose at Boston for apart from the fact that they scored four goals, two confident penalty appeals by the visitors were ignored.
The fact that ten goals were scored indicate, how much the respective attacks were on top. Both sides had shaky defences, the half-backs finding the lively forwards more than they could cope with Mexboro’ scored first but Boston equalised and took the lead before the interval. The display of the Mexboro’ forwards was particularly attractive and GLASPER signalled his return after absence through injury by scoring a hat-trick. CLARKE was smart and enterprising on the Mexboro’ right and often proved a source of danger to the Boston defence, besides scoring Mexboro’s, other goal.
Boston’s goals were scored by HALLIDAY (3), EARLE, ELDING and SPEIGHT.
