Another Distressing Accident at Denaby Main Colliery.

This morning a distressing accident befell a young man named John Tayles, living in Hirstgate, Mexborough, and engaged at the Denaby Main Colliery as feeder of a steam chaff-cutter.

Whilst pursuing his work, by some means or other his hand was caught the machinery and the cutter began to slice the flesh off, bit by bit, until half his arm had been cut away.

The poor fellow was in awful agony, but could do nothing to effect his release. His cries, however, attracted attention, the machinery was topped, and Tayles saved from terrible death.

He was conveyed the Mexborough Cottage Hospital and attended to Dr. Sykes.
