An Invaluable Man.

One ground for criticism has been removed by the re-arrangement of the team. Sam Kennedy has demonstrated in the last three matches the truth of my remark that he is acentre-half first, last and always.

The need for a, partner for Laurie Burkinshaw has been met by calling on Stanley Davis,(picture) and he has settled down there as well as he has settled into any other of the numerous positions the club have asked him to fill.

Davis is a remarkable player. As forward, half back, and back he has shown equal skill and value. This season he has, in spite of a good deal of moving about from position to position, played better than ever, in my opinion; and since his shift into the left back position the defence has taken_ a new lease of life.

The result has been that Laurie Burkinshaw has got into his stride, and Bromage is now much better covered. It seems that the club will do well to let that part of the team establish itself now and look to the forward line.
