Accident.

On Saturday afternoon, as some men were engaged in work at one of the bridges on the new line between Rotherham and Mexborough, where the line goes under the river at Kilnhurst, a young man named Speight, of Mexborough, met with an accident.

He had mounted the scaffolding for the purpose of watching the men work, and, in stepping backwards, slipped and fell on the line. On being taken up, it was found that his ribs and one of his shoulders were much hurt, as were also his head and face.

He was removed to the Ship Inn, Kilnhurst, until a conveyance could be procured, when he was immediately taken to his home at Mexborough.
