A Mexboro’ Cyclist.

Ernest Smith (Mexboro’) winning the quarter-mile in  the Barnsley C.C. Sports on Monday.

Ernest Smith, of Mexborough, who is becoming a well-known and very successful competitor in cycle racing circles, scored another win when he took part in the Barnsley Cricket Club Sports Festival on Monday, winning the quarter mile open cycle handicap in 32 1-5th secs, with 40 yards start.

There was only a length, wheel between the first and second men.

Smith has been going to events further afield lately, and shortly he will ride in races at Cheltenham, Blackpool and Oakham, amongst other places.
