Young Mexborough Wife’s Tragic Fate
Dead at Foot of Stairs
Mrs. Sheila Josephine Woods (29) wife of Mr. John Robert Woods, railway worker, of 75, High Street Mexborough was found dead at the bottom of the stairs at her home in the early hours of Monday morning. The facts have been reported to the Doncaster District Coroner.
Mrs. Woods, who was formerly Miss Sheila Josephine Barry, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Barry of Shipley. She had only been married 14 months and resided at Swinton until three weeks ago.
Mrs Woods was educated at St Walburger’s School, Shipley, and underwent training in domestic science at St. Joseph’s College, Bradford, and the University of Manchester (College of Domestic Science). She was domestic science mistress at Adwick Road Modern School for seven years.
The funeral took place at Denaby Main Roman Catholic Cemetery yesterday (Thursday) and was preceded by Requiem Mass at St. Alban’s Roman Catholic Church, Denaby.
Father Hinchcliffe officiated together with Canon J. Holohan.
