And the autographed bat he is admiring the one which shall be sold by mock option during the afternoon of Wednesday, July 31, when Brian Sellers is bringing the Yorkshire County side to take part in a match at Mexborough sponsored by Mexborough Charity Cricket committee.

Arranging team details for this July marches Mr FR Brown, m.b.e., area welfare officer at Manvers Main and former England and Surrey test cricketer. The charity cricket committee is back in harness after a years interval with three main aims:

To provide a really first class days cricketing Mexborough

To assist Bill Bowes benefit fund and

To provide a further valuable help for Mexborough Montagu Hospital and other charities.

During the war the committee raised between £4000 and £5000 for local charities. Their aim this year is to raise £1000 to be divided between charities and the Bowes benefit fund.

Teams on July 31 will be captained by Herbert Sutcliffe and Bill Bowles himself. Play will commence at 1.30 and will continue until 7-30 with a short tea interval. It will be preceded by a luncheon to subscribers. Further interesting point in the day’s programme concerns competitions for which members of the Charity Cricket Committee have already given very valuable prizes.
