Sisters Wed Within Week
Mexborough and Wyke Ceremonies
Two Mexborough sisters, members of a well known family have been married within a week of each other. They are Miss Cecily Victoria Millwood, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Millwood of Main Street, whose marriage to Mr.John Edward Crowcroft, younger son of Mr. and the late Mrs. Ernest Crowcroft of Caxton House, Hampden Road, Mexborough, took place on Wednesday, and Miss Elizabeth Millwood, younger daughter, who married Mr. G. Young at Wyke, near Bradford, a week earlier.
At the ceremony at Mexborough Parish Church on Wednesday, Mrs. Young was Matron of Honour.
The service, conducted by the Rev. A. J. Bishop, was choral, with Mr. L. Fletcher at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of white figured lace with a veil and wreath, and carried red carnations.
Her sister, Mrs. Geoffrey Young, wore a turquoise crepe gown, a pink flower head-dress and carried pink carnations. She was accompanied by a child bridesmaid, Christine Ingham, in white figured satin with a head-dress of tulle and white flowers and carrying sweetpeas. Their gifts from the bridegroom were silver bracelets.
Best man was Mr. Freeman Tingle, Messrs. I. Crowcroft, J. Millwood and P Beaumont were groomsmen and Messrs W. P. Mardin and C Kingston ushers.
