Mr. F. Howlett (Sheffield) and Miss H. Yates (Mexborough)
The marriage was solemnised at Mexborough Parish Church of Miss Hettie Yates, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Yates, 21, Dolcliffe Road. Mexborough, and Mr. Frank Howlett, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Howlett, of 63, Sideswell Road, Sheffield.
Given away by her father, the bride was attired in a white satin gown cut on Princess lines, with a veil surmounted by an orange blossom wreath. She carried carnations. Attending her were Miss Lily M. Beal and Miss Ruth Yates in blue net over taffeta slips, carrying carnations, and Miss R. Howlett in a pink floral dress and carrying bronze chrysanthemums.
The attendants received respectively from the bridegroom, a necklace, a book, and handkerchiefs. Pte. Arthur Brant was best man, and groomsman was Mr. Billy Yates. The bride, who is a nurse at the Winter Street Hospital, Sheffield, received from her colleagues and the patients a case of cutlery.
An electric timepiece was received by the couple from the staff and workmen of Ratcliff (Electric) Ltd., Sheffield, where the bridegroom is employed.
