The wedding took place at Mexborough Parish Church on Saturday of Miss Lilian Williams, eldest daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. Williams, of “Alcombe”, Alexandra Road, Mexborough, and Mr. Tom Dennett, Mexborough staff representative of the Sheffield daily newspapers.
The ceremony was a quiet one owing to the comparatively recent death of the bride’s father, one of the most prominent personalities in musical circles of the district.

Dennett, of Cemetery Road, Doncaster, has been at Mexborough for eight years and is associated with a number of local organisations including the Industrial Development Council, to which committee he has been co-opted. He is secretary of the Imperial Club table tennis section, and a member of the executive of the Doncaster and District of the National Union of Journalists and a member of the committee.
The service was conducted by the Vicar, the Rev. E. H. P. Rawlins, and the bride wore a suit of Air Force Blue. with hat shoes and gloves of Arab blue, and a silver fox fur, and carried a bouquet of pink roses. She was given away by her brother, Mr. Jack Williams, and her two sisters were bridesmaids, Miss Vera Williams in a mustard coloured angora dress and green coat, and Miss May Williams in a tan suit with n-gg-r brown hat and gloves. They wore sprays of cream roses. Mr. W. H. Turner, of Doncaster, was best man. At the Church door, the bride was presented with a lucky horseshoe by Margaret Kaye, of Conisborough.
After a small private reception at the home of the bride’s mother, the couple left for a honeymoon touring the Lake District. The bride wore a beige swagger coat, and n-gg-r touring cap.
The future address of Mr. and Mrs. Dennett will be at 7, Hall Avenue, Mexborough.
Among numerous presents they received were those from the staff, pupils and parents at Doncaster Road Infants School, South Yorks. branch N.U.J. and the editorial staff of the “South Yorkshire Times”.
