Ravenfield Bride for Mexboro’ R.A.F. Technician
Royal Air Force Chief Technician, Robert Squires, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Squires of 176, Doncaster Road, Mex-borough, was married at Si. Francis’ Church, Bramley, on Thursday to Miss Vera Sanderson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Sanderson, of 4, Poplar Grove, Ravenfield Common,
The Rev. E. B. Greathead officiated and the bride, who was given away by her father, wore a long white lace dress falling in three tiers with a short circular veil attached to a white nylon flowered head-dress.
She was attended by Miss Edna Purcell, a friend; and Miss Patricia Watts, her cousin, who wore dresses of blue figured nylon with matching head-dresses, gloves and shoes and by Misses Ann Dawson and Barbara Cutts who wore dresses of pink figured nylon with matching head-dresses, gloves and shoes. All carried bouquets of white carnations and fern.
Best man was Mr. George Squires, the bridegroom’s brother, and the groomsmen were Messrs. D. Bates and B. Cutts.
The bride’s mother wore a heather mixture suit with coffee coloured accessories and the bridegroom’s mother chose a black nylon chiffon over pink two-piece with pink accessories.
One hundred guests attended a reception at the Three Horse Shoes Hotel, Wickersley, after which the couple left for their honeymoon touring the South of England, The bride travelled in a tweed suit with red accessories.
Chief Technician and Mrs Squires will live in Gainsborough.
The bridegroom’s father is a partner in the Mexborough baking and confectionery firm of Messrs Squires brothers
