Wedding: Bedford & Rose

The Rev. George Henry Bedford, formerly curate at Mexborough, and now priest-in-charge of St. Hilda’s, Shiregreen, who was married on Tuesday at St. Cuthbert’s Sheffield, to Miss Irene Mary Rose, elder daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. H. Rose, 4, Cobden Avenue, Mexborough. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. F. Farrow, who also acted as organist.
The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. W. E. Rosser, of Barnsley, wore a charming gown of white crepe de Chine in Elizabethan style, with veil and wreath of orange blossom, and carried a spray of Madonna lilies. She was attended by her sister, Miss Betty Rose, who wore oyster floral crepe de Chine, hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of tea roses.
The Rev. E. W. Bartholomew, of St. James’s, Wath-on-Dearne, officiated as best man. A reception was held afterwards at St. Cuthbert’s Vicarage, and later the Rev. and Mrs. Bedford left for Llandudno. Among those present at the ceremony were the Rev. Dr. Briggs, of Worsboro’ Bridge (a former Vicar of Mexborough) and Mrs. Briggs; the Rev. S. A. Taylor, priest-in-charge at Whinney Hill (Mr. Bedford’s predecessor at St., George’s, Mexborough) and Mrs. Taylor; and a number of friends from Mexborough.
