A member of a family with many associations in the Mexborough and Swinton district, Miss Mabel Joan Peppper, youngest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr. C. O. Pepper, of 84, Riverdale Road Sheffield, was at the Church of St. Road, Ranmoor. Sheffield, on Thursday, married to Mr. John Atkinson, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Atkinson, of 36, Millhouses Lane, Sheffield.
The bridegroom is a prominent Sheffield business man, being a directcr of the well-known firm of Messrs. John Atkinson, Ltd., The Moor, Sheffield.
The bride is a well-known Yorkshire tennis player, and has been ladies’ captain at the Fulwood Lawn Tennis Club for the last two years.
Her mother, Mrs. Francis Pepper. is a member of the Mitchell family, by whom the firm of Ellison and Mitchell, of Kilnhurst (now the Yorkshire Tar Distillers, Ltd.), was founded. The
late Mr. Pepper was associated with the Mexborough Cricket Club for many years as secretary and captain and was for many years in the National Provincial Bank, Mexborough.
