Mr T.W. Ward (Linton) and Miss D. Pashley (Mexborough)
The marriage was solemnised on Saturday at Mexborough Parish Church, of Miss Doris Pashley, of 27, Frederick Street, Mexborough, and Mr. Thomas William Ward, son of Mr. and the late Mrs. W. Ward, of Main Street, Linton, near Burton-on-Trent.
Given away by her uncle, Mr. H. Adey, the bride wore a white satin gown with a veil and wreath lent by Mrs. Adshead, of Stockport. Mrs. J. Adshead was senior attendant and wore a floral satin gown and a silver head-dress and the other attendants, Miss June Margaret Adey and Miss Elsie Brown, wore blue satin gowns with head-dresses of velvet leaves. They carried anemones and received necklaces from the bridegroom.
Mr. Lewis Bradford was best man and Mr. Arthur Adey and Mr. Sidney Barron were groomsmen.
The bride travelled to Linton where the honeymoon is to be spent, in a grey crepe dress, over which she wore an Air Force blue coat and blue accessories. Among the gifts were fish knives and forks and a bread knife from the staff of the Stockport Coperative Society by whom the bride was formerly employed.
Miss L. Venables (Mexborough) and Mr. W. Pendlebury (Bury)
Miss Louie Venables, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T, Venables, of 14. Cross Gate, Mexboro’, was married on Saturday at Mexborough Parish Church to Mr. William Pendlebury, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Pendlebury, 3, Britain Street, Bury, Lincs.
A gown of ivory satin cut on classical lines and terminating in a train embroidered with lovers’ knots was worn by the bride, who was given away by her father and carried red roses.
She was attended by Miss Bessie Venables and Miss Nellie Venables, in pink dresses, and by Miss Irene Robinson in a lavender coloured dress. The maids wore head-dresses to tone with their dresses and carried sweet peas.
Cpl. J. Venables was best man, and the groomsman Mr. T. Venables.
The bride’s travelling costume consisted of a navy blue satin dress and a strawberry pink coat with hat to tone. The honeymoon is being spent at Morecambe.
