Mace-Hawcroft
The wedding took place at Mexborough Parish Church on Saturday of Miss Marjorie Hawcroft, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Hawcroft, 5, Hirst Gate. Mexborough, and Mr. Sydney Mace, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Mace, “Pernella,” Fitzwilliam Street, Swinton.
The Rev. E. H. P. Rawlins officiated.
The bride wore white Spanish lace underlined with white tulle and taffeta, and carried a spray of red roses.
Bridesmaids were Miss Olga Hawcroft (sister of the bride). Miss Ada Denman (cousin of the bride). Miss Patricia Sanders (niece of the bridegroom), and Miss Doreen Denman (cousin of the bride). The elder ‘ bridesmaids were attired in pink lace, and the younger in pink taffeta. The former carried pink carnations and the latter wore muffs.
The bridegroom’s gifts to the bridesmaids were necklets and identity bracelets. The best man was Mr. Ronald Mace, and the groomsman Mr. George Hawcroft.
The bride’s mother wore a dress of old rose with silver fox fur and pink carnations. The bridegroom’s mother wore a floral dress, with a navy silk coat and a spray of pink carnations.
The numerous wedding gifts included a cut glass salad bowl and servers from the nursing staff of the Mexborough Montagu Hospital of which the bride was formerly a member.
After the ceremony the bride’s parents held a reception at the New Mason’s Arms, Mexborough. The bride travelled in a silk floral dress and navy silk coat with hat and shoes to tone. The honeymoon is to be spent at Blackpool.
