Wedding – Hulse & Austwick

The marriage was solemnised at Mexborough Parish Church on Monday by the Rev. G. Bernard, of Miss Edith Iris Hulse, eldest daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. H. G. Hulse, of Gleadless Road, Sheffield (formerly of Mexboro’), and Mr. Lewis Austwick, only son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Austwick, of Catherine Street, Mexborough.

The bride, who was given away by her brother, Corporal H. E. Hulse, R.A.F., was attired in a grey two-piece, with burgundy hat and shoes to tone. When leaving the church, the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by her niece, Jean Hulse, who was dressed in pink silk. The bride was attended by Misses Dorothy and Audrey Hulse (sisters of the bride) and Miss Ethel Austwick (sister of the bridegroom), Miss Audrey Hulse and Miss Ethel Austwick being attired in floral dresses, and Miss Dorothy Hulse in rose pink, with navy blue hats and shoes.

The best man was Mr. T. Walsh, and the groomsman Mr. H. Smeaton. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. L. Rowson, 12, Cowood Street, Mexborough. Later, the couple left for Blackpool, where the honeymoon is being spent.
